Dr Benjamin Eniayewun Bows Out Of Civil Service 34 Years After

HRM Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, HRM Oba Bashir Shotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo, traditional chiefs and dignitaries with the retired former Permanent Secretary, LHSC, Dr Benjamen Eniayewun and wife and children at his retirement thanksgiving at the Chapel of Christ the Light (Interdenominational), Alausa, Ikeja.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Service Commission (HSC) Dr. Ademuyiwa Benjamin Eniayewun, on Monday, 28th July, 2025, bowed out gracefully and meritoriously from the Lagos State Civil Service after 34 years.

To commemorate his glorious exit from service, the former senior public officer had a Thanksgiving service at the Chapel of Christ the Light (Interdenominational), Alausa, Ikeja, to praised God, for sparing his life through the journey of 34 years and 60 years of age as he retired meritoriously.

The premises of the church were filled as cream-de-la-cream of the Lagos State Civil Service were present to grace the occasion. Family members, friends, and relatives of the celebrant were also full of praises and danced for a gracious journey in the Civil Service.

In his remarks, the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, said that Dr. Eniayewun is an administrator of great repute and has been a great blessing to the state health sector.

“Eniayewun’s journey through the Lagos State Public Service epitomises unwavering commitment, unalloyed dedication, consistent hard work, and professionalism. He is a stickler of efficiency, and has upheld the highest ethical standard of efficient service delivery everywhere he has served”, the Head of Service said.

His technical skills, wealth of knowledge, and managerial experience, he said, have provided the Lagos State Health Service Commission with a solid structure that can stand the test of time. His support for the medical personnel has also made him thrive in the hospital environment.

Agoro prayed that Almighty God would continue to fill his days with peace and grants him good health and a sound mind on retirement.

In her remarks, the Director, Post Service Department of the Public Service Office, Mrs. Bukola Durodolu, said that Lagos State Government is celebrating an accomplished individual who has put in 34 years of meritorious service and has attained 60th years of age.

“Among his accomplishments, she said, is mentoring individuals who have become medical consultants at various general hospitals, and he has pioneered a medical facility that, today, has been upgraded to a general hospital.

“You came, saw, and conquered. The Lagos State government recognises your contributions in the health sector. You shall be given a birthday gift, a certificate of service, and a meritorious letter signed by the Governor of Lagos State. On your birthday, our office would call to wish you a happy birthday”, Durodola said.

In his admonition message titled: ‘No Permanent Seat’, Rev. Oyebukola Oyebanji of New Life Baptist Church, Oke Alfa, Isolo, said that everyone should prepare for change as there is nothing in life that is permanent, as everything is subject to change.

Oyebanji said, “Whatever position you may be, you will leave it one day. How you treat your subordinates matters, as prosperity awaits everyone. Fear the Lord in that office you hold, be a man or woman of integrity and be faithful in that office you hold. Eniayewun is a tough man, but tough roles never last. He built a strong health sector and joined others in making Lagos a centre of excellence”.

“Any civil servant who wants to last must step on toes, not to harm but to wake them to their responsibilities. Anyone Dr. Eniayewun has offended. Please, forgive him”, he added.

In his response, Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun thanked Mr. Governor and his wife for allowing him to serve in the capacity of the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Service Commission.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for many individuals who have stood by me, encouraged me, and contributed to the journey. I thanked my family, friends, colleagues, and associates in the health sector. You all came to honour the Almighty God”, Eniayewun said.

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of a Certificate of Service and a gift to Dr Eniayewun, in honour of his retirement from service.
